Cubby Construction: Finalist in Three Categories at North West Family Business Awards 2024
We’re thrilled to share some exciting news with you all: Cubby Construction, based right here in Carlisle, has been named a finalist in not just one, but three categories at the prestigious North West Family Business Awards 2024. It’s truly an honour for us to be recognised among the best in the region, and we couldn’t be more proud.
The competition this year has been fierce, with a record number of family businesses vying for the spotlight. Despite the tough competition, we’re delighted to have secured nominations in three distinguished categories: Construction, Property & Engineering – Builders of Tomorrow Award; Environmental Sustainability – The Green Award; and the Digital Transformation Award.
For us, this recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence in every aspect of our work, from construction to sustainability and digital innovation. As Tommy Cubby, our Managing Director, rightly puts it, “ Together, as a team, we’ve achieved this milestone. It’s a testament to the collaborative spirit that defines Cubby Construction. We firmly believe that together, we can do more. Every member of our team has contributed to our success, and this recognition belongs to each and every one of us.”
The awards ceremony, set to take place at Bolton Football Stadium on Friday, 10th May 2024, promises to be a night to remember. We’re thrilled to be part of it, alongside co-hosts Dave Clarkson and Sue Howorth of The Family Business Community, as well as the esteemed food and drink writer and presenter, Nigel Barden.
Co-Founder and Director, Sue Howorth said: “With another year of increased entries we have been working with our 23 judges which are representing all 5 counties of the North West, and we know they have had extremely difficult decisions to make. Our finalists should be extremely proud of themselves for being recognised in this years shortlist.”
Co-director, Dave Clarkson said: “A huge thank you to everyone who has invested time filling in their application forms. We’ve been absolutely blown away by the strength and diversity and attention to detail in the applications.”
Sue Baguley from Siemens UK, and who were the hosts of our Judging Day, said: “The number and quality of applications from across the North West region has been outstanding, the businesses are clearly proud to be family businesses and the detail in many of the entries has demonstrated that they are very progressive and innovative.”
Fellow judge, Tom Mathew, Group Commercial Director of Dunsters Farm, said: “As always, it was fantastic to hear the stories of the resilient and ambitious businesspeople working in family-run businesses across the region. The judging day is an opportunity for me to contribute to the vibrant family business community but also to go away inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit demonstrated by the applicants. “
The judging process, overseen by a panel of 23 judges representing all five counties of the North West, has been rigorous and thorough. We’re grateful for the opportunity to showcase our work and share our passion for what we do with such esteemed industry experts.
Our journey at the North West Family Business Awards 2024 is a testament to our values: to do the right thing, rising to the challenge, together we can do more and be accountable. We’ll continue to uphold these values as we eagerly await the final decisions from the judges and prepare to celebrate our achievements in May.
Thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement as we continue to strive for excellence in everything we do here at Cubby Construction.
