Despite being nervous to start, the team have been super welcoming at Cubby’s and I’m really enjoying what I’m doing. It’s my first year as an Apprentice Joiner, employed in the Joinery workshop. My role consists of working with timber-based building components from doors and windows to units and even staircases. I would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone who is interested in woodwork. It has given me the opportunity to work on many projects and learn so many new skills already! It can be challenging but I’m supported throughout.

I love the variety in my job, from recruiting subcontractors to payments, from site visits to office days, no day is the same. The role is never ending, I can see a clear path for development and progression. I'm very much apart of the team, from day one!

It’s my second year as an apprentice and I’d definitely recommend it, there’s far more to mechanical engineering then I had ever expected. I’ve been involved in such a variety of tasks, giving me a taste for what’s really involved. I’ve been exposed to tasks I initially didn’t think I could do but have been supported throughout and surprised myself. It really has improved my confidence
